P.S.

Check out my new "Words to Live By"! Inspiration for the rest of your week!

Goodnight lovelies!

Pinteresting Wednesday: Wedding Edition

Hey there ladies! Whether you're married, engaged, engaged to be engaged, or single I hope you will enjoy this weeks edition of Pinteresting Wednesday! I have an insanely huge "I DO" board on Pinterest but I am only sharing the pins that are truly unique and special. Linking up with Michelle at The Vintage Apple so definitely check out her super cute blog and follow me if you aren't yet! (Oops, and I being pushy? Sorries!)

First things first! The engagement ring! This one is beautiful but what makes it special is the wedding band. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, "A CORD OF THREE STRANDS IS NOT QUICKLY BROKEN"
So symbolic and beautiful!

This would be so beautiful on the Save the Dates or invitations as well as the programs.

Um, how amazing is this dress!? I don't think I want anything too typical or ballgown-ish so this lovely flowy dress is definitely in that category!

Precious "something blue" as a pedi!

This is something I have never seen before but I absolutely love it! Has a homey feeling when outdoors. So sweet! (Just every other, or every 3rd row. And I would decorate the tables slightly differently)

You know this girl has to have a monogram.

Donations? Cute on the gift table for those who don't have time to shop for a gift!

Love this unique, quaint, simple, chic, (and a little country) wedding cake! 'P' please!

Lastly, a little wedding keepsake and something you could pass through the generations. A lovely reminder of the most important day of your life. Wedding shoe display. Imagine as they age... Beautiful.

Are any of you ladies planning a wedding? If so, please share! And as you may have noticed, I will NOT be your traditional bride! Hope you have enjoyed peeking into my Pinterest! Stay tuned for Thursday Thoughts tomorrow!

Happy Blogging and Happy Hump Day!

Sunday Morning Coming Down

I don't know if you guys have heard of the song Sunday Morning Coming Down... Its an old country song and it's a little sad but I thought of it as I decided to blog about my weekend.

I'm sure you have noticed I have been pretty slack on my blogging lately, but I promise I have a good reason! I have been pretty sick since Thursday... I'm not exactly sure what happened or why it happened now but I have some health issues that have been at bay for quite a while now. So, as I have had to deal with this many times before, I am not too surprised. I am sharing this with you... Well, I am not sure why, but I suppose so that you can understand the girl behind the blog a little better.

I have been counting calories lately so I decided not to stop since I have began feeling ill and to put a little perspective on things, I had plenty of calories on Thursday (too many actually!). On Friday I had a normal morning and afternoon then by dinner the only thing I could convince myself to eat was vanilla wafers (weird, I know) so the calorie count for Friday was 1,030. Yesterday, I only had 650. The reason I am so unable to eat is because I have severe nausea which I have been battling for nearly 8 years. More recently I have found out that I have another illness other than GI that may be related. It is called POTS. It has to do with blood flow, blood pressure, and heart rate. That's about it in a nutshell. It causes me exhaustion, headaches, dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness, and occasionally fainting. Scary. So with all of that, the last thing I feel like doing is eating.

It takes a good amount of effort to do much of anything when I feel this way so, if my blogs become fewer and farther between, I promise I will be back as soon as I can! And I will continue to read yours and comment! Don't give up on me!

Love and Happy Blogging,
Hannah

Sometimes and Always

Linking up with Mackey Madness for a little Sometimes and Always! This is my first S&A and I don't quite know if I've got it down so bear with me if its... Lame. Promise I'll work on it next week!

Sometimes, I feel self conscious about my blog posts since I haven't been doing it for long.
Always, I am pleasantly surprised by the page views and feedback I get with each new post!

*****

Sometimes, it is really hard to watch what I eat (and sometimes I cheat).
Always, I feel so much better just knowing that my eating habits are healthy about 99.9% of the time!

*****

Sometimes, I ignore my boyfriend by accident because I have gotten so used to him being with me daily. (While pinning, reading, blogging, etc.)
Always, I am thankful for the time we get to spend together.

*****

Sometimes, I desperately long for summer!
Always, I desperately long for summer!

Comments make me smile so please let me know how Just a Girl's very first Sometimes and Always turned out! Hope ya'll have a wonderful week and keep in mind, you made it through Monday!

Love and Happy Blogging,

Thursday Thoughts

I have become a serious blogger in the last couple of weeks and I have ventured out on my own to find new fun blogs to read and link up with! Today I decided go with Thursday Thoughts over at [life of love]!

  1. I am so thankful for my amazing boyfriend. Valentine's day isn't the only day of the year that I am reminded of that but it gives me an excuse to go on and on about how wonderful he is!
  2. I love doing my hair and makeup and I am seriously considering the possibility of going to cosmetology school. I think I would ROCK at it and I love working with people and making them feel good! Definitely something I have been thinking about lately.
  3. I love my job! I always have fun meeting new customers and feel great when I can make a good sale! Almost everyone who comes into the store is so nice and friendly! When someone isn't I try not to let it ruin my day... Maybe they are just having a hard time. We are all grumpy sometimes, right?
  4. I am trying to decide how to treat myself when I get my income taxes back. I have it narrowed down to an iPod Touch, Kindle Fire, or tickets to see the Braves with my boy. Input and suggestions welcome!
  5. I am doing really well on my healthy eating and I am finally seeing results! Next thing to work on: Drink more water!
  6. American Idol vs. The Voice. Never thought I would consider this but The Voice is really growing on me. Seems to be more talent, less frill than Idol.
I have had an exceptionally good week and I hope you can say the same!

Pinteresting Wednesday: Beauty Edition

As you may have noticed, I am slightly into makeup... and nails... and hair... I swear I'm not shallow and superficial I just love all things pretty! So, for this Pinteresting post I decided to share my favorite beauty pins! Maybe this will give me the motivation to try out some of the more difficult ones! Hope this gives you some ideas to update your beauty arsenal as well!

via
These nails are so presh and the pin shows you exactly how to achieve this look without needing a tutorial so I LOVE that! These are obviously cute for Valentine's Day but you could soooo mix up the colors for any day!

via
These nails totally rock! I wish there was some way I could do these myself! I will have to get them done this summer though because they are awesome! Love the tribal/hippie/boho feel to these!

via
This eyeliner is so fun and looks great against a tan. Would love with my blue eyes and dark hair. I am definitely going to try this for our (belated) Valentine's Day date this Saturday. If I get it right, I'll post a pic and a tutorial! Wish me luck! P.S. If you look closely the blue in the inner corners fade into purple at the outer corners. FAB.

via
These lips are so pretty! Love love love this color for a subtle everyday look! Could be rocked with nearly any eye shadow since it is so sheer. Perfect for spring and summer!

via
I love big curly hair, which should come as no surprise since I have big curly hair! For way too long I have been wearing it straight but I got my long layers cut back in and I try to rock the au naturel look as much as possible. I do, however, wish my hair was THIS curly. LOVE IT!

via
This may be my favorite hair look I have seen in a while! Love the loose curls and that braid is too. cute. I would imagine the front is a french braided bang that comes around to make the braid we see here. This is just one long braid that is pinned on the opposite side. Seems simple enough if you have long hair!

Love all of these looks and if you're brave enough to test them out, please let me know! Would love feedback on ways to simplify these looks!

Our Love Story

Found this link up after following a new blog and I thought it would be a fun way to end Valentine's Day!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together? 3 wonderful years

2. How did you meet? His cousin was my best friend in high school. She took me to a University of Georgia football game and that is where I first met Gil. A couple of years later he and I took joint enrollment classes together (college courses while in high school) and since he didn't know anyone I sat by him and that is how we became friends! (I copied his homework... Shhh...)

3. Is this the guy you want to marry? Absolutely! Can't imagine my life without him! We are 2 peas in a pod!

4. Where would you like to get married? Big or small wedding? There is an arboretum in Milledgeville, Ga where we are from that has a beautiful mansion on the property. It's got that old southern/antebellum charm. I don't necessarily want a big or small wedding, few bridal party members, plenty of guests!

5. Do you have any nicknames that you call one another? Yes, and those are for our ears (and texts only). NOT dirty, just silly and embarrassing.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey. a.) He is honestly the most kind person I have ever met. b.) His most important concern is my happiness c.) He can always make me laugh!

7. What is your ideal proposal? Anything that involves Gil on one knee with a ring. And maybe something like a hot air balloon, or I dunno... Italy. You know, the norm.

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for Valentine's Day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals? Um, he is a dinner and a movie kind of guy. Sooo.... ?

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or a pop in a movie and relax on the couch? I would say both. I would love romantic beach dinners but I love snuggling up eating homemade cookies and watching a good chick flick or comedy with Gil too.

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant other one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere? Mostly what I look forward to with Gil is spending every day with him. Doing the normal things together. I know that sounds like I am cheating but its truly what I want most.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing this Valentine's Day. Well today I had to work and Gil had to deliver flowers. We had a normal night but we will celebrate this weekend! In true Gil+Hannah fashion: Dinner and a movie! (P.S. I got flowers, a bear, and a balloon today!)

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's Day? I hope to get the last Twilight book, Breaking Dawn. He gave me Twilight and New Moon for Christmas and Eclipse for our anniversary (January 9) and now I have read them all!

13. Give us one piece of advice to keep your relationship strong and full of love. Communicate. Cliche I know, but it is absolutely true. We talk about how we feel rather than holding it in and allowing it to build up and cause anger and resentment. Without that, you have nothing.

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.

Confessions of a Saveaholic

Alright girls, I know you have all seen Confessions of a Shopaholic! Super cute movie, love Isla Fisher, etc, etc. But heres my story: I am a saveaholic. Even when I can spend money, I don't. I can talk myself out of any purchase. IT. IS. A. PROBLEM.

Confession of a Saveaholic # 1: I will wear an item all day at work before I decide to buy it and 9 times out of 10, I don't.

Confession # 2: I am not only a Saveaholic but also a Maxxanista. The last time I purchased an item at TJ Maxx was before Christmas and I carried it around with me for atleast 45 minutes trying to decide if I wanted to buy it or not. It was a coffee mug. And a gift. $3.99 people, and it took me that long to commit.

# 3: At work we have the cutest Lilly Pulitzer coolers. I thought about getting one all day Friday. (And having it monogrammed, DUH!) I left work without making a decision thinking "if I really want it and it is still here next week, I'll buy it". I thought about it the whole way home and have continued thinking about it this weekend. I would be willing to bet that I convince myself that I can find another that I like almost as much that costs far less and will let all of the little pretties slip right through my fingers.

Please girls, help me to see the error of my ways. Convince me that I do need all of the pretty things I see and that saving money isn't all its cracked up to be!

Happy Blogging Friends!

Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday

Following the advice of my blog friend over at Little Miss One Big Mess I decided to link up with The Vintage Apple for a very Pinteresting Wednesday post! Whether I am cleaning, working, or pinning I am dreaming of warmer days with sun and tans and frozen drinks! So here they are, the best of the week, the cream of the crop, the pins that bring a little summer sunshine into these weird half-winter days:

Tuesday TV

Tuesdays are always my favorite days for vegging out in front of the television. Here's how it must be done: Lights out, coffee by my side, zebra Snuggie in place (don't judge), and laptop well, in my lap!

First up, Glee. I love Will Schuester, Sue Sylvester, Emma Pillsbury, Coach Beast and each and every member of the glee club. Sue's antics, sarcasm, dry sense of humor, and pure anger make for very funny Tuesday evenings. Will and Emma's love for one another always makes me smile and Coach Beast reminds me each week to "not judge a book by its cover". Rachel used to be too much for me to handle but you can't deny, the girl's got chops! Although the music doesn't have the same passion as the original songs I am always looking forward how the McKinley High Glee Club can rock it out!

Second, my girl: the New Girl, JESS! Love Jess and all the shenanigans she and her roomies get into! Her cute, quirky style is something I admire and yes, I know she is a fictional character, but her constant optimism is refreshing. Always excited for the next episode! Also, I firmly believe that Jess and Nick will fall in love! AH! Fingers crossed!

Recently Gil and I have started watching Big Bang Theory. We both LOVE Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Howard, Amy, Raj, and of course Bernadette! Sheldon makes me laugh nearly every time he speaks. Bazinga might be my new favorite catch phrase... Ever. So thankful for reruns on TBS because I don't know how we could wait an entire week to witness the awkwardness that is The Big Bang Theory. Oh, and Leonard + Penny forever!

Ah, lastly... The light of my life, the butter to my bread, the peas to my carrots: Teen Mom 2. I am (maybe too) deeply invested in these girl's stories. I am sad when Leah's sweet baby girl has to go to the doctor. I was happy to see that Leah and Corey made it but I now realize that they were just too young. Poor Chelsea has to deal with Adam and all of his selfishness but she did get the most precious girl out of it! Thankful that she has such supportive parents! So glad to see that Kailyn is being civil with Joe and hoping it will last. That would be so much better for their little boy. Oh goodness... Now Jenelle. I truly hope that she can get her life straightened out and be a mother to Jace. I always feel so sad when he has to hear Jenelle yell with her mother. That is no life for a baby. Always hoping for the best for these girls and their children.

Well, enjoy your Tuesday evening veg session readers and fill me in on any awesome shows I might be missing!

Happy Blogging,
Hannah

DIY Darling

So, I was getting really tired of searching through a tiny drawer in my vanity for the jewelry I wanted to wear on any given day. Finding a matching pair of studs running on half a cup of coffee in the morning is not something I look forward to or recommend.

Well, I love me a good ol' antique window and any way to repurpose it and make it useful is worth a golden star in my book. So I decided to take one that my parents have and turn it into something really special! In just a few VERY simple steps you can have a rustic, vintage, super cute jewelry organizer too!

What you will need:

  • Old window
  • Aluminum screening (the same as used for screened doors)
  • 6 (+/-) screw hooks
  • Staple gun
  • Sawtooth picture hanger

First, you want to find a window that is sturdy. If it seems to be falling apart now, you certainly don't want to hang your most prized possessions (your accessories) on it!

Remove all of the glass panes. Most should be easily pushed through without having to break the glass.

Once you have removed all of the glass, clean the window frame with a damp wash cloth until all dirt and residue is removed. If there is any loose paint use a wire brush to remove.

Next, take the screening and pull tightly across the back of the frame. Staple into place using staple gun.

The next step can be altered to your taste. I decided to use my hooks in the middle of my frame rather than the top or bottom. If you have a lot of earrings, I would suggest using your hooks on the bottom to free up as much space within the frame as possible. After you have decided where your hooks would be most useful, use a nail to begin your hole (only about 1/4 of the way into the frame). Then simply screw the hooks into the hole that you have created.

Lastly, attach your sawtooth frame hanger onto the back of the frame and hang.

Now just hang all of your jewelry and admire your handiwork! (I've been admiring mine all day... Shhh...)

* Added tip: For bangles-- find a vase, decorative bottle, or even an old glass Coke bottle and stack bangles on the neck. It's a cute look and very practical!

I will be making a few alterations to my window frame organizer, such as adding places for stud earrings and rings, and I will update you as soon as I do. Hope your craft day turns out as well as mine did!

Happy Blogging,
Hannah

I'm Back

So here I am, back to blogging! Decided to revamp my blog and get back into posting. I always loved writing and getting views and feedback so I know (hope) I will follow through!

With that said, readers-- please give me ideas for how to improve Just a Girl! Ways to make it cute, personalized, fun, and most of all... INTERESTING!

So far I have added a new background, title image, and a "follow me on Pinterest" button. Any other ideas/inspiration is welcomed and very much appreciated!

Happy blogging readers,
Hannah

Oh! And of course, HAPPY SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!
